Live Play By Play Broadcasters Terry Smith enters
his ninth season on the Angels' flagship radio station, AM 830, KLAA. Smith also
hosts the Angels' post-game call-in show "Angel Talk". Smith joined the Angels
in 2002 after serving as the radio voice of the New York Yankees' Triple-A affiliate
Columbus Clippers for 19 seasons.
The Philadelphia, PA native attended
Temple University, where he played collegiate club hockey, as well as Jones College
in Jacksonville, FL which has produced the likes of actors Joe Piscapo and Jay
Thomas. In February, 2002 Smith made his on-screen debut as a broadcaster in the
baseball movie "A Little Inside", which aired on HBO and Showtime.
He
assists in Angels Community Relations with appearances. He has served as Honorary
Chair of the Orange County Learning for Life's Exploring program. Smith and his
wife Sonia have one son, Jordan, and make their home in Ladera Ranch, CA.
Jose Mota joins the radio broadcast this season as analyst. Previously
Jose had been part of the Angels Fox Sports television broadcast team and Spanish
radio broadcast team.
Jose provided his talent for the 2006 & 2009 World
Baseball Classics and on selected Sunday Night Baseball telecasts. Mota has also
co-hosted the Angels' hot-stove show "Angels Tonight" during the off-season on
AM830. Last season he joined Yahoo Sports as a baseball analyst. A bilingual talent,
Mota joined the Angels in 2002 after working as a broadcaster for MLB Radio.
A
former Major League baseball player with the San Diego Padres (1991) and Kansas
City Royals (1995), Mota was originally drafted by the Chicago White Sox in 1985.
He was a two-time Collegiate All-American second baseman at Cal State Fullerton
and owns a bachelors degree in Communications from CSF. He was the starting second
baseman for the 1984 National Champion Titans. In 1999, Jose made his film debut
in Kevin Costner's Universal Studios release "For Love of the Game" in which he
portrayed Dominican shortstop "José Garcia".
A native of Santo Domingo,
DR Mota is the son of longtime Dodger Manny Mota. He and his family make their
home in Glendora, CA.
Darren Chan Darren Chan enters his tenth season as the Producer/Engineer
for Angels' English radio broadcasts for the 2008 baseball season. Chan is responsible
for all of the technical aspects of each broadcast in addition to forwarding updated
game information to all announcers. Prior to joining the Angels, Chan was the
Promotions and Marketing Director for CNET Radio in San Francisco (2000-01). He
also served as a production and promotions coordinator at KKSF and KABL (Oakland
Athletics' flagship radio station). Chan has an extensive background in the radio/broadcasting
business as he was the Sports Director/Executive Producer at KTCT (Flagship radio
station for the Oakland Raiders and Stanford Athletics) in San Francisco (1997-99).
He also served as an on-air morning show co-host and provided NFL updates on the
Raiders radio network. Chan spent two years (1995-97) as the Executive Producer
of the Westwood One nationally syndicated sports talk show "Ferrall on the Bench."
He began his radio career as a producer at KNBR (Flagship radio station of the
San Francisco Giants) from 1990-95. A native of San Francisco, Chan attended San
Francisco State University. He and his wife Lily reside in Chino, CA.
